Hyderabad’s population is estimated to be 1,02,69,000 in 2021 indicating a 2.65% increase from 2020. It stood at 1,00,04,144 in the year 2020 with an increase of 2.7% from the previous year – 2019. These projections are taken from the latest revisions made to the United Nations World Urbanisation Prospects 2018. 

Hyderabad, the capital city of the southern state – Telangana, is one of India’s populous cities. Precisely, it stands as the fourth most populous city in the country. Hyderabad stands on the banks of the Musi river, surrounded by artificial lakes. Hyderabad Population Density and Linguistics

Population density indicates the number of people living per unit area. The population density of Hyderabad stands at 18,480/km2 or 47,900/miles2. Also, the migrants from the rest of the country make almost a quarter of the city’s population, approximately 24% of the city’s population, according to the 2011 census. The sex ratio is 945 females for every 1000 males, while the nation’s average is 926 females per 1000 males.

Telugu largely occupies Hyderabad’s population and Urdu speaking people, and the rest make the minority percentages. The other communities include the Kannadaiga, Marwari, Odia, Bengali, Tamil, to name a few. Telugu and Urdu are the official languages of Hyderabad, and English is commonly used. 

The most common religion followed is Hinduism (55%), followed by Islam (41%), and Christians (2.5%), Jainism (0.5%), Buddhism (0.02%), and other religions form the rest of the population. Almost 13% of the population lives below the poverty line.
